Intermediate Quantity Surveyor

The Company:
We are working with a well-known building contractor who successfully deliver high profile, new build projects for a varied client base across the North West of England.

Their supply chain include some of the best subcontractors in the North West as they pay them on time & treat them well.
They typically work to double digit margins.

The Role:
They are now in a position to add to their NW Commercial team as part of their planned growth that is due to continue throughout 2020 and beyond. The initial focus is a Manchester City Centre based Multi-storey residential project that is midway through construction. They are releasing one of their team to start a new project as part of their ongoing development so want to recruit someone new to this team on a project that is going particularly well for a year or so to learn their systems and procedures setting them up for a good future with the business. The role entails managing a number of subcontract packages through construction, working closely with the 3 other members of the commercial team.

General responsibilities will include the following;
Undertake all commercial and contractual requirements on the designated projects in accordance with the company procedures and processes,
Ensuring sound financial performance including profitability, cash flow, and managing risks and opportunities,
Preparation of accurate and detailed monthly cost reports for review with the Senior QS and Commercial Manager,
Good working knowledge of and application of Main Contract and Sub-Contract Forms and Standard Method of Measurement,
Preparing and agreeing Monthly Valuations, including valuing variations and forecast final account,
Appointment of Subcontractors in accordance with Company Procedures, including procurement and account management including valuations, payment notices and agreement of final accounts,
To work closely with Contracts Management to ensure all required site records and correspondence are completed in accordance with the specific Contract requirements and Company Procedures,
Maintain a close working relationship with the client and design team to assist in the success of the project and
Liaise with Contracts Management to review and monitor project costs whilst achieving high standards of quality and health and safety.

Ideally, they would like to recruit a Quantity Surveyor who is at Assistant or Intermediate level who has previously either led small schemes or been a part of a team on significant building projects.
They have a really good employee development programme and would expect and encourage you to take on further responsibilities as you develop.
You will be based in or be able to commute to the North West of England daily.
You will be IT literate.
Very contractually aware with specific knowledge of JCT Contracts.
