Quantity Surveyor

The Company:
• We are working with a growing regional building contractor who work with both public and private sector clients building projects across the North West of England and in North Wales.
• They are privately owned and have developed an excellent reputation for completing technically challenging projects to the satisfaction of their stakeholders and are well known as an employer who invests in and takes a genuine interest in their staff members.
• Typical projects that they take on would generally be valued up to £5 Million.

The Role:
• They are now in a position to add to their small regional commercial team due to a healthy pipeline of projects for 2018.
• Ongoing support will be provided by the company's Commercial and Regional Directors and you will work closely with the operations and technical teams to help reach successful commercial outcomes on your projects.

Responsibilities will include the following;

• Through effective cost control you will be tasked with maximising value, minimising liabilities and ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained.
• Undertake all commercial and contractual requirements on the designated projects in accordance with the company procedures and processes.
• Ensuring sound financial performance including profitability, cash flow, and managing risks and opportunities.
• Preparation of accurate and detailed monthly cost reports for review with the Commercial Director.
• Good working knowledge and application of Main Contract and Sub-Contract Forms and Standard Method of Measurement.
• Preparing and agreeing Monthly Valuations, including valuing variations and forecasting final accounts.
• Appointment of Subcontractors in accordance with Company Procedures, including procurement and account management including valuations, payment notices and agreement of final accounts.
• To work closely with Contracts Management to ensure all required site records and correspondence are completed in accordance with the specific Contract requirements and Company Procedures.
• Maintain close working relationship with the client and design team to assist in the success of the project.
• Liaise with Contracts Management to review and monitor project costs whilst achieving high standards of quality and health and safety.

• Ideally, they would like to recruit a Quantity Surveyor capable of carrying out the QS role as described above for a main contractor ideally with good working knowledge of JCT Contracts.
• They would also be interested in hearing from people at Intermediate Quantity Surveyor level ready for progression and will support you with this.
• You will be based in or be able to commute to the North West of England daily.
• You will be IT literate : comfortable using MS Office and specifically Excel.
• Good time management and communication skills.
