A leading Contractor/Developer whose NW Construction team would generally deliver larger projects that are typically apartments, commercial or mixed use.
They are a growing, dynamic business who put employee welfare at the forefront of their thinking at their inception and initiatives that they put in place are imaginative and really well received by their staff.
They have a number of high profile schemes on site and an impressive pipeline of work with their existing client base together with their own developments that means they now need to recruit a Design Manager whose focus will be on RIBA Stages 0-4.
You will get the chance to work on schemes from inception, through preconstruction stages working closely with the Senior Design Managers and Pre-Construction Manager before passing on to the delivery teams.
The role includes some development management as well as design management.
You will be tasked with controlling design activity through the RIBA pre-construction phases.
You will provide advice on design risk and opportunities for value engineering to the commercial, planning, delivery and client teams.
You will produce, agree and manage realistic design programs.
Attend design meetings with the client, their representatives, consultants and the supply chain.
Once projects are on site you will be on hand to ensure the delivery team are working to the specifications.
Ideally, you will have worked as a Design Manager or Development Manager previously on building projects of a significant size and will have either an architectural or construction related background.
You will be based in or be able to commute to Greater Manchester daily.
Commercially aware with an understanding of value engineering.
Good construction knowledge.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
