The Company:
We are working with a leading Regional Contractor whose NW Construction team would generally deliver projects for private sector and public sector clients within the following sectors; Industrial, Commercial, Retail, Multi Storey Residential, Education and Healthcare secured through varied procurement routes including a number of key, fruitful, public sector Frameworks with Blue Chip Clients.
The Role:
Due to an increase in opportunities to work on Design and Build projects they have identified the need to create a Design & Build department and would like to recruit an experienced Design Manager to be the head of this department.
Initially, this would be a hands on role working through pre-construction and delivery phases. The role will then grow as you will be tasked with recruiting and managing a small design team of 2-3 staff as the business grows.
Duties will include;
You will be tasked with controlling design activity on projects through the pre-construction and delivery phases.
You will provide advice on design risk and opportunities for value engineering to the commercial, planning, delivery and client teams.
You will produce, agree and manage realistic design programs.
Once projects are on site you will ensure the delivery team are working to the specifications.
Ideally, they would like to recruit a Design Manager who can take on multiple schemes at varying stages of development independently.
You:
You will have worked as a Design Manager/Coordinator previously on building projects.
You will be based in or be able to commute to Lancashire daily.
Commercially aware with an understanding of value engineering.
IT literacy.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
