The Company:
We are working with a really impressive National Construction Group's North West Regional Construction team.
They are privately owned, profitable and are active in a number of market sectors including; education, leisure, multi storey residential, care, blue light, healthcare and industrial.
They are members of a number of key public sector frameworks and are very selective in which private sector clients they work with.
They have grown in a calculated manner growing turnover in the NW by £50 Million pa over the last 5 yrs and more importantly are making margins that are significantly above local rivals, this coupled with their track record and predominantly public sector biased workload and reputation in a variety of market sectors means they are in a fantastic position to continue their growth.
The senior management team are really impressive and knowledgeable but very approachable and I understand great to work with.
The Role:
Due to an excellent pipeline of work chiefly secured via a number of key regional construction frameworks, they are now in a position to add to their small North West based quantity surveying team.
The role is largely site based (they are happy for someone to work from home/in the office too) – they have recently secured 2 projects valued at £4 Million and £10 Million on interesting and technically challenging projects on public buildings. They require a Project Quantity Surveyor to run 1 of these schemes with the support of an experienced Commercial Manager. Follow on projects are typically valued between £5 Million up to £50 Million and based in the North West of England. Moving forwards you can continue to run your own projects or work on larger schemes as a number 2 to gain varied experience and set you up to run larger projects in the future if you like.
With the close support of the commercial management team your general responsibilities will include the following;
Undertake all commercial and contractual requirements on the designated projects in accordance with the company procedures and processes – highlighting potential contractual issues.
Ensuring sound financial performance including profitability, cash flow, and managing risks and opportunities.
Preparation of accurate and detailed cost reports for review with the Commercial Director.
Preparing and agreeing Monthly Valuations, including valuing variations and forecast final account.
Appointment of Subcontractors in accordance with Company Procedures, including procurement and account management including valuations, payment notices and agreement of final accounts.
To work closely with Contracts Management to ensure all required site records and correspondence are completed in accordance with the specific Contract requirements and Company Procedures.
Maintain close working relationship with the client and their representatives to assist in the success of the project.
Liaise with Contracts Management to review and monitor project costs whilst achieving high standards of quality and health and safety.
You:
They would like to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a good track record of working in a similar role for a regional building contractor or the regional office of a national builder.
They would also be keen to speak with Senior Quantity Surveyors as they are able to recruit at this level too.
As a relatively small regional QS team they are very selective about recruitment, personality fit and a positive attitude are more important to them than specific level of experience.
You will be based in or be able to commute to the North West of England daily.
You will be IT literate and will be contractually aware.
Rewards:
You will get the chance to work on interesting projects in a tight geographical region in the North West of England for a well-established contractor with a really good reputation who are a part of a larger group so have great financial backing.
They will offer a good salary package, home working and flexible working arrangements so that your role fits around your life.
The opportunity to work with a friendly, forward thinking contractor who have a low staff turnover and provide a great environment to work in.
