The Company:
We are working with a leading Contractor whose NW Regional Construction team would generally deliver projects for clients principally based around Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, North Wales and Cheshire. Projects delivered in the region have mainly been in the commercial, education, health care, industrial and leisure sectors.
The Role:
Due to recent promotion they now have an opportunity for someone to join them as a Commercial Manager.
Reporting in to the Commercial Director, working alongside a Regional Operations Manager and managing a QS team of 8 you will be responsible for the commercial performance of your team/their schemes.
You will be given a good degree of autonomy working directly with the Regional Director, Commercial Director and Operations Managers.
Typically your team will oversee between 5 and 10 live projects.
You'll work closely with the Pre-Con team, will attend meetings with clients/their representatives and will be comfortable in a client facing/development role.
The QS team are very successful and have a really nice blend of youthful enthusiasm and wise older heads – they have consistently made good profit so the role is very much nurturing and supporting the team rather than having to go in to rebuild a team and make big changes to processes and procedures.
You:
To be successful in this role you will need to have real drive and enthusiasm, you'll want to inspire and pass on the skills and knowledge you have developed in your career to your team.
It's likely that you'll have worked as a Commercial Manager, Managing QS or may be operating at Senior QS level but are ready to take that next step in your career – they can support you with this and have a track record of doing so.
You will be based in or be able to commute to the North West of England daily.
You will need to have a good understanding of the construction process and great knowledge of construction contracts.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Rewards:
The successful individual will receive a generous salary and package that includes a wide variety of benefits.
You will be working with a forward thinking, award winning contractor who take on varied schemes and can provide a challenging and supportive working environment.
They have an excellent career development program (as is evidenced by this role being available due to internal progression!).
You will be a member of a small regional team where your thoughts and ideas will be appreciated.
