From here they work nationally and secure work through a number of procurement frameworks on which they have a great degree of success.
A good proportion of their workload comes from negotiation with pre-existing clients.
Their profit margins are 3-4 times the industry norm, are cash-rich and have secured the majority of next years’ turnover already so are in a great place.
They are aware of their social responsibilities so encourage their staff to take part in volunteering days (both in the UK and abroad), provide gym membership and other wellbeing initiatives, work with colleges to encourage the next generation into the industry and provide electric vehicles with charging points at their office.
The Role:
They now have an opportunity for someone to join their team at Managing QS level.
Managing a small team of 4/5 Quantity Surveyors, you will have commercial responsibility for between 2 and 4 projects.
You will work closely and collaboratively with their clients through preconstruction through to handover, provide support and guidance to your QSs.
They are open to recruiting someone currently working at Senior QS level looking for a step up into a managerial role or someone who is already an established Managing Quantity Surveyor.
Key responsibilities will include the following;
Work closely with clients through all stages of the construction process.
Managing the team to ensure all commercial and contractual requirements are considered on the designated projects in accordance with the company procedures and processes, ensuring sound financial performance.
Input into Cost Planning and other early-stage cost advice.
Oversee monthly cost reports.
Advise on the appointment of subcontractors in accordance with Company Procedures.
Work closely with the Commercial Director, Commercial Managers and other Managing QSs to ensure sound commercial performance and best practice.
Liaise with Preconstruction, Operations and Technical teams to review and monitor project costs and performance.
You:
You will have worked as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or similar working on significant building projects previously.
You will be based in or be able to commute to the North West daily.
You will be contractually aware and comfortable in a client facing role.
