Senior Quantity Surveyor | Major Infrastructure | Birmingham | £65k - £75k + Package
I’m working with a leading Tier 1 contractor to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major infrastructure scheme in Birmingham, kicking off construction in Summer 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take full commercial ownership of a high-profile project that will deliver meaningful improvements to a key urban transport network.
The Role;
You’ll take the lead on all commercial aspects of the project, working closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team to ensure successful delivery while maximising value and managing risk.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and driving the commercial strategy, adapting it as the project evolves
- Acting as the commercial lead across the project lifecycle through to final account
- Managing subcontract procurement – tendering, analysis, negotiation, and award
- Administering contracts and maintaining strong commercial governance
- Preparing, submitting, and agreeing valuations, payments, and final accounts
- Producing and managing CVRs and forecast final accounts
- Handling claims, variations, and loss & expense, including detailed substantiation
- Providing commercial insight and challenge to the wider project team
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and supply chain
What We’re Looking For;
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
- Track record of managing projects £15m+ commercially through to final account
- Experience with claims, variations, and commercial risk management
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to influence and challenge
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Solid understanding of construction law and industry best practice
