Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor – Highways (Civils)
Location: Leeds (projects across Yorkshire)
Rate: £360-£400 per day
Contract: Freelance / Contract
 
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a trusted civils contractor who are on an exciting growth curve delivering highways projects across Yorkshire. This is a freelance opportunity based out of Leeds, with regular site visits required.
 
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of highways and infrastructure schemes, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
 
Key Responsibilities
Full commercial management of highways projects from inception to final account
Preparing and managing budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
Subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and account management
Administration of NEC contracts (or similar forms)
Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
Liaising with project teams, clients, and stakeholders
Managing variations, valuations, and final accounts
 
Requirements
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering
Strong background in highways or infrastructure projects
Sound knowledge of NEC contracts
Ability to manage multiple projects across different sites
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (preferred)
